Are you aware of the Password security – What’s your password?

Pooja was pursuing her MBA degree. One day, in the canteen, while she was going to sit with her coffee, a guy having no chivalry, dragged her chair away. Pooja fell down and everyone started laughing. In the heat of the moment, Pooja got up and slapped him. The entire commotion in the canteen came to a deadly standstill by the sound of the slap, Rahul stood humiliated.

After this incident, Rahul and Pooja exchanged cold glances, met in fests, common friends’ parties etc. It seemed as if situations were bringing them close. With time, they came closer and started dating. To prove their loyalty to each other, they shared all their secrets. While other things were there, social accounts’ Passwords were shared too.

A few days later, Pooja, all dressed for the big day up left for the coffee shop to meet Rahul. Passing her way, she noticed some students staring at her in a strange manner and others, giggling as they passed by. She wondered what could possibly be the reason of their such weird behaviour. In all this, suddenly Pooja gets a call. It was her bestie.

“What have you done, girlll!?…her voice breaks in shock. She asks Pooja why she had posted such intimate pictures on her Instagram. This leaves Pooja stunned. She couldn’t believe what she had heard. She immediately checked her Insta Feed. She found pictures which should have been only with her or Rahul. To her dismay, the post had 500 likes and over 100 views of the videos. Pooja knew her reputation was shattered.

She called Rahul. Before she could say or ask anything, there came a cold voice that said, “Happy Birthday, Love! Liked your birthday gift?” and the phone was hung up. Pooja collapsed.

In that trance, Pooja’s mind said a thousand things to her. Her one mistake, just one small mistake of sharing her password once a long time back, cost her so much. She feared to confide in with someone about this as the ID and password were given by her willingly when they were together. He had done all this to avenge the humiliation of that slap. He made Pooja fall in love with him so that he could come close to her, win her trust and plan all this.

Moral of the story is quite clear. Consider nobody yours when it comes to the security of your data and gadgets. Sharing Passwords is a big mistake, but we do it pretty casually, without thinking of the consequences. What a relationship is intended for and will last till when, who can tell? We give our codes in the swiftness of moment thinking it to be a matter of just that time. We open our cell phones in the middle of ten people, clearly showing off our pins when we can instead use touch ID or fingerprint. We don’t realize that for someone who is already prying, picking data is a piece of cake due to our casual approach regarding the privacy of our passwords. Also, we forget that once it is given, the password is there for the other person till the time it’s not changed. And how often do we really change our passwords?
